Dear group leader,

What is a good Ruth Bible study for a women's group?

A good Ruth study for a women's group takes one chapter per meeting over four weeks, asks questions the group can answer straight from the text, and keeps background notes clearly separate from the story. Below is a free printable that does exactly that, plus how Wayfold can carry the prep for you.

Honest limits

The printable is ours, written for this page in plain words. It is short on purpose: five questions per chapter will not cover everything a commentary would. Our background notes are labeled History or Traditions differ, because some parts of Ruth (chapter 3 especially) are read differently across traditions, and we would rather say so than pick a side for your group.

Wayfold has limits too. Six study books in total: Ruth and Jonah free; Philippians, James, Habakkuk and Philemon with a one-time Premium Lifetime purchase. Highlights and private notes are Premium. Map tiles need a connection. A decision we made: Wayfold never paraphrases Scripture, and nothing is generated while you use it; every quotation is checked against the bundled Bible text.

Questions leaders ask about Ruth

How many weeks does a Ruth Bible study take?

Ruth has four chapters, so four weekly meetings fit naturally: one chapter each. The whole book takes about 10 minutes to read silently, so there is plenty of time for discussion.

What is the main message of the book of Ruth?

In the text, it is a story of loyalty and kindness in a time of loss: Ruth stays with Naomi, Boaz acts as a near kinsman, and the book ends with Obed, the grandfather of David (Ruth 4:17). Groups often draw out themes of God's providence and redemption; those are interpretations, and traditions emphasize them differently.

Is this Ruth study only for women?

No. We wrote the opener and reflection questions with a women's group in mind, but the questions work for any adult group.

Do I need to sign up or give an email to get the printable?

No. The PDF is a direct download, free to print and copy for your group.

Is Wayfold's Ruth study free?

Yes. The Ruth and Jonah studies and their printable leader guides are free in Wayfold. Philippians, James, Habakkuk and Philemon come with a one-time Premium Lifetime purchase; nothing renews.

Which Bible translation does this kit use?

The World English Bible, a public-domain translation, which is also the text inside Wayfold. Your group can follow along in any translation; verse numbers match.
