What is a chapter-by-chapter Bible study app?

Wayfold is a Bible study app that walks you through one chapter at a time: read it, answer a few questions, then see the exact words in the chapter that answer each one. There are six study books with 21 chapters so far. Ruth and Jonah are free.

The point is simple. Most of us remember a Bible story as a blur of Sunday-school pictures. Wayfold slows you down to what the text actually says, in what order, where it happened, and which words prove it.

How one chapter study works

  1. Read. The full chapter in the World English Bible, or have it read aloud.
  2. Check. A few questions about what happened. Each answer reveals the verse that settles it.
  3. Trace. Put the main events in order, each tied to the verse where it happens. (That is what you just tried above.)
  4. Find the verse. You get a prompt, then tap the line in the chapter that answers it.
  5. Go deeper and write. Short notes on history, language and meaning, then a notebook entry you can export.

Every answer is in the text, and Wayfold shows you which line.

Bible study for small group leaders

If you lead a group, the printable leader guide is the part that saves your Tuesday night. Each session has an introduction, the outline in order, questions with an answer key and verses, a background note, the places named and one reflection question. The Ruth and Jonah guides are free; print them, save them to Files, AirDrop or email them.

Labels that keep the text and the commentary apart

We made one rule early: a note never gets to sound more certain than it is. So every explanation carries one of five labels.

The same honesty runs through the Bible map. 774 of the Bible’s 1,189 chapters mention a place, and Wayfold shows them; 64 key places are marked well established, likely, debated, uncertain or unknown.

Who should pick something else

Wayfold goes deep on a few books rather than covering all 66. If you want a daily devotional, a year-long reading plan, or many translations side by side, a broader Bible app will serve you better. Wayfold has the World English Bible only, and it is iPhone only.

Questions before you start

Is Wayfold a free Bible study app?

Partly, and we say exactly which part. Free: the Ruth and Jonah studies and their leader guides, the complete World English Bible reader with read-aloud and search, the map with all 64 places, the timeline, 4 of the 10 journeys and 7 of the 63 background lessons. Premium Lifetime is one optional purchase that adds four more study books with their leader guides, all journeys and lessons, plus highlights and notes.

Is Premium a subscription?

No. Wayfold Premium Lifetime is a one-time purchase. Nothing renews, and you can restore it on any device signed in to your Apple Account.

Can I use Wayfold to lead a small group?

Yes. Each study has a printable PDF leader guide for one chapter or the whole book: an introduction, the outline in order, questions with an answer key and verses, a background note, the places named and a reflection question. You can print it, save it to Files, AirDrop it or email it.

Which Bible translation is in Wayfold?

The World English Bible, which is public domain and stored on your device, so the reader works offline. Protestant (66 books) and Catholic (73 books) canons are both included and you choose yours.

Does Wayfold tell me what to believe?

It tries hard not to blur the line. Every note is labeled In the text, History, Interpretation, Traditions differ or Debated, and sources are named for history and language notes.

Does Wayfold use AI?

No. Nothing is generated while you use it, and every quotation is checked against the bundled Bible text.

Do I need an account?

No account, no ads and no tracking. Notes and progress stay on your device. Map tiles need a connection; the Bible reader does not.
