Us · the short answer
What is a good Advent devotional for men?
A good Advent devotional for men is short enough to survive December: one reading of a few verses, one concrete action and a few minutes of prayer, about ten minutes a day from the First Sunday of Advent (November 29 in 2026) to Christmas Day.
Below is a free 27-day plan built around four men in the Christmas story. One man per week, so a men's group can follow it Sunday to Sunday. No sign-up, no app needed.

Last year I bought the book. Got to December 9. Then the school concert, the work party and the in-laws.

I work most of the 20th to the 26th. If it’s more than ten minutes I’m out.

Ten minutes. One short reading, one thing to do, pray. The men of Christmas: Zechariah, Joseph, the shepherds, Simeon. One a week, and we talk on Sundays.

Shepherds on the night shift? Fine. I’m in.

Today's Advent reading for men
Pick a date between November 29 and December 25, 2026. You get that day's man, passage and action. Starting late? Start on today and keep going; nothing piles up.
The ten minutes: read the passage twice (3 min), read the action and decide when you will do it (2 min), then pray in silence (5 min).
Dad of three · 8:12 pm
Can you send the whole list? I’ll stick it on the fridge.

And after Christmas? Every January we start something and it’s gone by February.
Us · disclosure: we make FORGED
After Advent: the 90-day habit
We make FORGED, a 90-day Bible plan for men. It is not an Advent plan, and this page works without it. But if ten minutes a day held through December, FORGED keeps the same shape going: a practical challenge, one passage with a plain-English explanation, and a 3, 5 or 10-minute prayer timer that dims the screen to a single ember.

One thing that is free and handy this month: Sermon Notes, to capture a Christmas Eve or Christmas morning sermon in about 90 seconds.

Advent devotional questions men ask
When does Advent start in 2026?
The First Sunday of Advent in 2026 is November 29, the fourth Sunday before Christmas Day (Friday, December 25). That gives 27 days from the first Sunday to Christmas Day, which is the length of the plan on this page.
What is a good Advent devotional for a man who has never done one?
One with a short daily reading and a single action, so a busy week does not sink it. The 27-day plan here uses passages of 1 to 12 verses about four men in the Christmas story, about ten minutes a day.
Is this Advent plan inside the FORGED app?
No. FORGED does not have an Advent plan. It is a 90-day Bible plan for men. This free page stands on its own; FORGED is the habit we suggest after Christmas if the ten minutes stick.
Which Bible translation does the plan use?
Verses quoted on this page are from the World English Bible (public domain), the same translation FORGED uses. You can read the passages in any translation; references match.
Can a men's group use this Advent plan?
Yes. The four weeks line up with the four Sundays, so a weekly men's group can talk through one man of Christmas each week: Zechariah, Joseph, the shepherds, then Simeon.
What if I start late or miss days?
Start on today's date in the reading finder and keep going. There is nothing to catch up. Each day stands alone.
Us · honest limits
What this plan and FORGED will not do
- The plan covers the men of Christmas, not the whole Advent story. Mary, Elizabeth and the prophets get only a passing line. Pair it with your church's readings if you want the full arc.
- FORGED has no Advent or Christmas content and no group feature. Each man uses it alone, on iPhone, in English.
- FORGED Day 1, Bible Basics, Bible Words, What Do You Need? protocols, Sermon Notes and a daily verse are free. Days 2 to 90 need Premium: monthly, annual (14-day free trial for eligible new subscribers) or a one-time lifetime purchase.
A decision we made: one action per day, not a list. December already hands men a list. Doing one thing well beats reading about five.
