What is a Fruit of the Spirit Advent challenge?
It is a daily Advent practice where you work through the nine fruits of the Spirit in Galatians 5:22-23, one small action at a time, from the first Sunday of Advent to Christmas Day. This one runs 27 days in 2026, so every fruit gets three: one day to notice, one to practise, one to give.
"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control." Galatians 5:22-23 (WEB)
Most Advent lists hand you a verse a day. We wanted something you do between school runs and work parties, because fruit grows from small, repeated moments, not from trying harder on Christmas Eve.

Who this Advent challenge is not for
If you want a Bible reading plan that covers the Christmas story chapter by chapter, use a reading plan instead. This list has one verse and 27 actions.
If your house is in a hard season, a 27-day list can feel like one more thing to fail at. Pick one fruit and do its three days. That still counts.
And if a day's practice would put you somewhere unsafe, skip it. Ninefruit says the same: it isn't counselling and never asks anyone to stay somewhere unsafe.
Advent questions families ask
When does Advent start in 2026?
Advent begins on Sunday 29 November 2026. This checklist runs 27 days, from that Sunday to Christmas Day on Friday 25 December, so each of the nine fruits gets exactly three days.
Why the fruit of the Spirit in Advent?
Advent is a season of waiting and getting ready. Galatians 5:22-23 names nine things the Spirit grows in people over time, and slow growth fits a season about waiting well.
Can children do this Advent challenge?
Yes. Read the day aloud and let a child pick how to do it. In Ninefruit, the Beginner reading style and optional Family Mode add family time to Today; the full Family Conversation deck is part of Premium.
Do I need the app to use the checklist?
No. The checklist on this page works on its own, and you can print it. Ninefruit adds a daily moment, a journal and a plan tool for each fruit if you want more.
What if we miss a few days?
Skip them. Do today's day and keep going. Ninefruit works the same way: missing a day costs you nothing and nothing wilts.
Is Ninefruit free?
Today's moment, Help Me Practise, your starter plan and its tool, daily game rounds, weekly challenges, the journal and the orchard are free. Ninefruit Premium (annual with a free trial for eligible new subscribers, or one-time Lifetime) adds all nine practice plans and tools and the full libraries.
Where Ninefruit fits in Advent
We marked up three real App Store screens so you can see what the app adds to the list above.
How to run it in three steps
- Pick a time. Breakfast or bedtime works for most families. Read the day out loud in under a minute.
- Do it before tomorrow. The notice days take thought, the practise days take a moment, the give days take a small cost.
- Write one line. On paper, or in Ninefruit's private journal, which stays on your phone and is never sent to a server or to AI.
Open Ninefruit in the App Store
